"The vineyard of Clos Vernay is situated over close to the Moulin-à-Vent border, down inthe valley and not all that far from the windmill and shares much in common with the wines from Clos de la Roilette. The soils here are a stony blend of quartz and granite. The 2023 Clos Vernay is a simply superb wine in the making, delivering a complex, quite black fruity and utterly refinedbouquet of cassis, black cherries, woodsmoke, espresso, stony minerality and spit-roastedgamebird. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, structured and complex, with a rock solidcore of fruit, great mineral drive and grip, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, precise andimpeccably balanced finish. This wine is going to demand the most time in the cellar of all of the Lafarge 2023 Beaujolais Crus before it starts to drink with generosity, but it is going to be a superb bottle once it is ready to drink. 2030-2055+. 94."
