The ATMOS KC16S coal gasifier is a manually fed hot water boiler designed for lignite briquettes and intended for heating family homes, weekend houses, and similar properties. Technology & Equipment

The boiler body is a welded steel construction and operates on the principle of downdraft gasification with an induced draft fan. Ceramic moldings are used in the lower combustion chamber, while the rotating grate mechanism with secondary air supply supports combustion and facilitates ash removal. The equipment includes a thermometer, boiler thermostat, flue gas thermostat, safety thermostat, and a cooling loop to prevent overheating. Primary and secondary air can be adjusted separately, allowing adaptation to the fuel and operating conditions.

For low-corrosion operation, the manufacturer describes integration with return temperature boosting, e.g., via a Laddomat 22 or a suitable thermostatic control valve; additionally, combining it with buffer tanks is described as a sensible system solution.

Installation

Installation must be planned for a boiler room with adequate combustion air; the manual specifies an opening of at least 300 cm² for systems from 15 to 75 kW. The connection to the chimney, flue duct, heating system, and power supply must be carried out professionally. For operation, return temperature boosting and protection against overheating must be considered; the manufacturer also recommends a concrete or steel foundation under the boiler.
