Alocasia lauterbachiana  Variegata is a rare and striking variegated form of the well-known Alocasia lauterbachiana. This tropical beauty features elongated, wavy-edged leaves with a mix of creamy white, Or Aurea light green, and deep green variegation. The undersides of the leaves often have a purplish hue, adding to its dramatic appearance. With its upright, sword-like foliage and contrasting colours, this Alocasia makes a bold statement in any plant collection. Like other Alocasias, it requires consistent warmth, humidity, and attentive care to thrive.

Care Plan

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its variegation. Can tolerate some direct morning sun, but harsh afternoon sun may cause leaf burn. Too little light can lead to weak growth and reduced variegation.

Watering: Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out before watering. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering may cause leaf drooping.

Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (above 60%). If indoor air is dry, use a humidifier, mist the plant occasionally, or place it near a pebble tray with water.

Temperature: Grows best in warm temperatures (18–30°C). Avoid exposure to temperatures below 15°C, as cold stress can cause leaf damage.

Soil: Requires a well-draining, aerated mix, such as a blend of orchid bark, perlite, peat, or coco coir. Good airflow around the roots is essential.

Fertilising: Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.

Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant outgrows its container. Ensure the pot has good drainage holes to prevent excess moisture buildup.
